Te Rahui solar farm reaches financial close

Todd is proud to confirm that financial close has been reached for Stage One (200MW) of Te Rahui – a 400MW solar farm being delivered in partnership between Nova Energy and Meridian Energy.

Located near Rangitāiki, east of Taupō, Te Rahui will be one of New Zealand’s largest solar installations, generating enough clean electricity to power approximately 100,000 homes. The project will be delivered in two stages, with both Nova and Meridian sharing equally in the investment and energy offtake.

Construction of Stage One is expected to commence in late 2025 or early 2026, depending on procurement timeframes. Pre-construction activities are already underway.

“This milestone reflects years of mahi and a shared commitment to delivering large-scale renewable infrastructure that supports New Zealand’s energy transition,” said Todd Group CEO, Evan Davies.

Together with the 300MW Twizel solar project – recently accepted into the Government’s Fast-track Approvals process – Todd and Nova now have a combined pipeline of approximately 700MW, positioning Todd among the largest solar developers in New Zealand.

Te Rahui is a legacy project – one that honours the whenua, strengthens energy resilience, and supports biodiversity and community outcomes.
